Eatonville Drive-by shooting scene

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's office released the name of the woman killed at a home near Eatonville on Monday. She is 66-year-old Joanne Boyer.

She died when someone fired several rounds at the home Monday morning in the 30900 block of Webster Road East in unincorporated Pierce County.

One of the rounds fired went into the home and struck Boyer, who was in the bathroom, according to Pierce County Sheriff's Detective Ed Troyer.

The Boyer was found dead in the home.

Troyer says this marks the 25th homicide in Pierce County this year, well ahead of last year.

She was one of six people, including children, in the home. The woman was the only one who was struck, according to Troyer.

Deputies believe the home was targeted, and the shooting was not a random act.

Troyer said deputies spoke with one of the other people at the home who they believe was the intended target.

Neighbors KING 5 spoke with did not want to go on camera for fear of being targeted next, but said the shooting happened at a known drug house. They tell us it's one of two well-known drug houses in the neighborhood that draw lots of traffic on an otherwise quiet road.

Troyer says police have no vehicle or shooter description at this point.
