How you can help disaster relief efforts after the Tonga Cyclone

Join the relief efforts in support of the Tonga community affected by Cyclone Gita.

In February, the small island of Tonga was hit by a category 4-5 cyclone, affecting many lives and leaving the community in need of support. As of February 20th, the Red Cross has reported 1,991 affected families and homes, 4,521 evacuees, two deaths and 51 evacuation centers.

Sharon Inukihaangana and Angela Mose join us to talk about what we can do to help.

Items they're looking to collect:

  • clean water
  • blankets
  • batteries
  • flashlights
  • solar power outlets/lamps
  • towels
  • toothbrushes, toothpaste
  • soap, body wash
  • shampoo, conditioner
  • deodorant for men and women
  • feminine hygiene products
  • baby bottles
  • baby wipes
  • diapers for babies and adults
  • laundry products
  • ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil
  • non-perishable foods
