Edmonds 'rally of hope' calls for unity against gun violence

Communities across the county are calling for a change in gun policy following last week's deadly shooting in Florida. Parents and students are calling on lawmakers to take action.
People gathered in Edmonds to call for unity following a high school shooting in Florida.

Motivated by the last week's mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, parents and students are joining a nationwide movement to for increased protections for kids from gun violence.

A group is gathering Monday afternoon at Edmonds Woodway High School for "A Rally of Hope: Together We Will Reduce Gun Violence."

Following a series of speakers, the group will march to College Place Elementary.

"The intent of this gathering is unit, peace and remembrance, but our goal is also to state clearly that we will not tolerate bad gun laws," the group behind today's march detailed on the event's Facebook page.

Marchers plan to lay out flowers and light candles for the victims of last week's shooting.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the 7600 block of 212th Street SW in Edmonds.
