Seahawks safety Earl Thomas not a priority for Cowboys

For at least one more year, it looks like one member of the famous Legion of Boom will still be in a Seattle Seahawks uniform. Sources indicate that for the Cowboys, trading for free safety Earl Thomas is not a priority at the moment.

For at least one more year, it looks like one member of the famous Legion of Boom will still be in a Seattle Seahawks uniform. Sources indicate that for the Cowboys, trading for free safety Earl Thomas is not a priority at the moment.

The Cowboys are still interested in Thomas, however, and would be willing to strike a deal if Seattle lowers their current asking price, according to Ed Werder.

The Seahawks are understandably asking a king’s ransom for Thomas. Seattle wants at least a first and a third-round pick coming back in order to part with their starting free safety.

This story correlates with another report by CBS sports writer Mike Fisher that the Cowboys and Seahawks have not been engaging in trade talks the week leading up to the NFL Draft.

Thomas has been the subject of trade rumors since the offseason began, with the Cowboys being the most discussed trade partner. Thomas is from Texas and grew up a Cowboys fan. He has made his desire to someday play for Dallas clear, clamoring into the Cowboy’s locker room after a game last season and telling Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett to “come get me.”

Rumors ramped up again after the Cowboys released star receiver Dez Bryant, with many speculating the Cowboys were clearing cap space to acquire Thomas.

For now, it looks like talks between the two teams have stalled. Of course, Seahawks general manager John Schneider is no stranger to making deals during the NFL Draft, so Seattle fans better remain on the edge of their seats.
