The third time was the charm for Kansas.

After losses in the Elite Eight the past two seasons, the Jayhawks are headed to the Final Four after beating Duke in overtime of the Midwest Region final 85-81.

Malik Newman was the hero for Kansas as he scored all 13 of his team's points in overtime as part of his game-high 32 points.

Trevon Duval led Duke with 20 points.

The first half was tightly played with neither team gaining a lead of more than four points. Duke took a 36-33 advantage to the locker room, helped by 10 turnovers by the Jayhawks against their zone.

Kansas took control early in the second half with a three early three-pointers as part of an 13-3 run that gave the Jayhawks a 46-39 edge.

The Blue Devils worked their way back into a tie at 57, setting up a tense final few minutes.

Duke took the lead for good with four consecutive foul shots by Grayson Allen, which gave the Blue Devils a three-point lead with 1:25 left. Svi Mykhailiuk hit a three-pointer in the final minute and then Allen's buzzer-beater rimmed out to force overtime.
