Former Seattle-area radio host stepping up to pay your rent as coronavirus crisis continues

Former radio host Bender of "The Bender Nation" on social media has partnered with Oberto to pay the mortgage or rent of one Washingtonian every Friday of April.

SEATTLE — As the coronavirus crisis continues many are dealing with financial hardships as they scramble to figure out how to pay their mortgage or rent.

A voice that many in the Puget Sound area recognize from years of local morning radio as a host for 106.1 KISS FM has a message, offering his help.

Bender of "The Bender Nation" on social media has partnered with Oberto Specialty Meats to pay the mortgage or rent of one Washingtonian every Friday of April.

This will cover up to $2,000.

Bender said watching everything unfold with the crisis just made him want to do something to help.

So he reached out to Oberto, a sponsor that he has worked with on other events and the company immediately agreed to partner up in an effort to help those who are struggling to stay afloat.

"We're gonna get through this," said Bender. "It's really hard to see the forest for the trees, it is a time where everything is happening and it's happening to everybody. All walks of life, whatever the gig is, everybody has got the same issues," he said. "It's that level of uncertainty that's freaking everybody out, but we will get through it."

To enter head to Bender's Instagram page, you must be a Washington resident and be at least 18-years-old.

Make sure to follow him and Oberto Specialty Meats on Instagram.

You can enter by direct messaging Bender on Instagram with information about how you have been struggling financially since this crisis hit.

Make sure to follow all the steps and rules in his post.

The first winner will be chosen at random at noon on Friday, April 3.
