A man broke into a home near Parkland and stroked a woman's face while she slept Sunday, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.

The woman says she woke up on her couch Sunday morning to find a stranger rubbing her face and telling her, "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen," according to the sheriff's department. She ran to her neighbor's house and they called 911.

The neighbor went into the street with a handgun to investigate and saw a man leave the home. That's when, according to the sheriff's department, the suspect went back inside and closed the front door. There was an unknown sedan parked in the woman's driveway.

Responding deputies found the front door locked but got in through an open sliding back door. Nobody was inside. Deputies also searched the wetlands behind the home.

After running license plates on the sedan left in the driveway, deputies found the registered owner's driver's license photo. About an hour later, deputies found the man in the photo at the edge of Clover Creek, the sheriff's department said.

The 47-year-old was arrested and booked for first-degree burglary. The sheriff's department says the suspect initially provided false information about his identity and reason for the being in the area, then thanked the deputies for their service during his arrest.
