The infamous Sleepless in Seattle houseboat is still making a name for itself 25 years later
The Sleepless in Seattle houseboat is arguably the most famous houseboat of all time! From the outside it might look the same, but if you take a look inside a major makeover has occured! Tom and Meg wouldn't even recognize the place.
This is a scene of the houseboat from the orginal movie Sleepless in Seattle, which was produced in 1993.
Present day owners Loretta and Jim have made quite the renovations to the home. There is now an open floor plan, new countertops, backsplash and appliances.
Loretta said she fell in love with the houseboat when she first watched the film. Her boyfriend had a job interview in Seattle and she knew that if he got it, they would live in the Seattle houseboat. Sure enough, he got the job and they moved in.
Jim and Loretta were married on the houseboat about six months after they bought the house.
In a nighttime scene on the dock, Sam (Tom Hanks), contemplates life and love on the famous bench. The bench is still in the same spot, but has since been replaced with a new one.
If you think the houseboat has changed since the movie, look at what it looked like in the 1960's! The transformation from then to present day is astonishing.
The Sleepless houseboat set a name for all other floating houseboats in the area. All of the surrounding homes are now worth close to a million dollars. But we'll always know which one is our favorite.
