Winter has arrived with multiple rounds of mountain snow expected in this weekend's forecast, lasting into next week.

The snow level is predicted to be at or just below pass levels for the entirety of next week which means that it will be cold enough for snow to stick around in the passes.

Several snowstorms will come to the passes this weekend lasting into next week.

Beginning Sunday, there will be a new storm every other day, stretching through next week. The storm on Sunday will bring up to 5 inches of snow throughout the Cascades, with more accumulating over mountain summits and in Whatcom and Skagit counties, where the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory.

Currently, our mountain snowpack is behind schedule. Much of Washington is showing less than 50 percent normal snow water equivalent, or in other words, the amount of water contained within the snowpack.

The snowpack is currently 50 percent less than it normally is during this time of year.
