BELLEVUE, Wash. — A tank filled with tar overturned Friday morning at Bellevue Way and Northup Way, spilling its entire load.
The call about the crash came in to police at 9:37 a.m., according to Bellevue police spokesperson Meeghan Black.
The driver appeared to be navigating too quickly around the corner of Bellevue and Northup and rolled the trailer, according to Black. The tank rolled over, and the truck fled the scene.
Police are looking at traffic cameras to attempt to get a description of the truck.
The spill took place near a stream restoration project, and a small amount made it into the system, according to Black. Utility crews are cleaning up the spill.
The roadway was closed for several hours while crews cleaned up the tar, which Bellevue police called "a sticky mess."
If anyone expected to have their driveway repaved and the truck didn't show up, Bellevue police urged that person to call the authorities.
