Multiple lane closures of I-5 this weekend in Seattle

Drivers will face overnight lane closures on southbound I-5 in Seattle as crews continue Revive I-5 work.

Editor's note: the video above was created in April 2018.

Multiple closures of the state's busiest freeway will mean detours and delays for drivers. Plan to take an alternate route if available.

WSDOT crews will repair cracked concrete panels on southbound I-5 during this time. All of the work is weather-dependent.

Express, HOV lanes closures

The northbound express lanes will close 9 p.m. Friday. They will open again in the northbound direction Saturday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. but will not be open in the southbound until Sunday at 9 a.m. The express lanes will open again in the northbound direction at the normal weekend time of 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

The southbound HOV lane will be closed between Mercer Street and Yesler Way the entire weekend, from Friday night at 9 p.m. until Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

Mainline southbound lanes closures

All southbound lanes just south of James Street will be closed nightly Friday - Sunday from 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. WSDOT crews will be replacing broken panels, and grinding down and repaving lanes. Traffic will be moved to the collector-distributor lanes during this time.

Southbound on-ramps closures

The westbound I-90 and the Edgar Martinez Drive/Fourth Avenue South on-ramps to southbound I-5 will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. - 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Closures will occur as early as 8 p.m. on weeknights and 9 p.m. on weekends during 'Revive I-5' road work. Construction is scheduled to be complete by Fall 2019.
