Two people were killed in a head-on crash on State Route 20 near Fidalgo Island on Wednesday.
According to Washington State Patrol, a 2015 Toyota Highlander was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes on SR 20. The Highlander hit another vehicle driving the correct direction (eastbound) head-on.
Both of the drivers died at the scene.
The driver of the Highlander has been identified as a 76-year-old man from Oak Harbor. The other driver was a 62-year-old woman from Mount Vernon.
When the crash first occurred, all lanes of SR 20 were blocked and drivers were sent on a detour.
At this time, it's unknown whether alcohol was involved. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
A photo of the scene from Kurtis Perry showed a car dangling off the bridge after the crash.
