FIFE, Wash. — A crash involving a crane knocked down a power pole on Pacific Highway East in Fife around 11 a.m. Friday. The downed power pole blocked a portion of the roadway for several hours as crews worked to make repairs.
Fife police said 46th Avenue East will remain closed between 15th Street East and Pacific Highway East during repairs.
The estimated time of repair could be up to 10 hours, Fife police said. Power was restored just before 9 p.m.
The power pole and lines are owned by Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU). A spokesperson with TPU said approximately 343 customers were without power after the crash.
Crews were able to route power to other lines and restore power to most of the impacted customers. TPU said customers in the area could lose power as repairs are made.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
