Expect delays Wednesday morning if you use northbound I-5 in Tukwila.
Washington State Patrol says a crane overturned early Wednesday morning, blocking the left two lanes of I-5 at Southcenter Boulevard.
WSDOT closed all northbound lanes around 9:30 Wednesday morning while tow trucks flipped the crane over and removed it from the scene. Two right lanes of I-5 were opened about 45 minutes later, and a third lane was opened shortly after. As of 1:45 p.m., all but the HOV lane were open to traffic.
The closure caused lengthy backups from South King County into Seattle & Bellevue. At 10:20 a.m. there was still a three mile backup due to the wreck, according to WSDOT. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use SR 99 & SR 167 as alternate routes.
