Bellingham residents have something to breathe easy about.
The city ranks among the nation’s six cleanest cities -- those that experience no high ozone or particle pollution according to the American Lung Association.
The unofficially nicknamed City of Subdued Excitement is tied for first place among the cleanest ozone in metropolitan areas. It’s also tied for first among the cleanest metropolitan areas for 24-hour particle pollution.
For year-round particle pollution, Bellingham ranks at number 22 among the top 25 U.S. cities on the Lung Association’s list. Cheyenne, Wyoming ranks first followed by Urban Honolulu, Hawaii.
Washington’s forested central city, Wenatchee is number 10 on the list overall.
