One of the athletes who will be first to compete took a detour to Seattle on her Road to Rio. Ryan Carlyle will be one to watch starting Saturday in Womens' Rugby Sevens.
Carlyle didn’t follow the normal path. She didn’t start playing rugby until college, and then worked as a marketing director for rugby star Waisele Servei at his Seattle rugby company Atavus.
Carlyle trained full-time with Atavus, played for the Seattle club Saracens and now, is competing in Rio.
