C. J. Prosise has already been sidelined this preseason and it looks like he won’t be the only Seattle Seahawks running back to miss some games this summer.

On Tuesday evening, it was reported Seattle’s first-round draft pick, Rashaad Penny, suffered a broken finger during practice. Penny left the field early on Monday, but offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer believed he was “OK” at the time.

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times tweeted Penny’s injury was to his hand and consisted of a broken finger.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later confirmed the injury and said Penny was headed to Philadelphia for surgery to repair the broken finger.

The Seahawks first-round draft pick has been competing with second-year back Chris Carson for the bulk of the carries this preseason. And if the reports are correct, it looks like Carson will be towing the load for the remainder of the summer.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is scheduled to address the media following Wednesday’s practice, and should have an update on Penny by then. For now, this story is continuing to develop.
