Minshew presumed starter after Jaguars trade Foles to Bears

The Jacksonville Jaguars are trying to mitigate one of the costliest mistakes in franchise history. The Bears and Gardner Minshew could benefit from the purge.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars are trying to mitigate one of the costliest mistakes in franchise history. The Chicago Bears and Gardner Minshew could benefit from the purge.

The Jaguars agreed to trade quarterback Nick Foles to the Bears for a compensatory fourth-round draft pick. That's according to a person familiar with the transaction. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Minshew is the presumed starter.  "The Missippippi Mustache" started 12 games and played in 14 for the Jaguars.  The Former Cougars QB threw for 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions in 2019. Minshew and the Jags went 6-6 in his 12 starts, the best record for all rookie quarterbacks.

The Jaguars are dumping Foles a little more than a year after giving the 2018 Super Bowl MVP a four-year,. $88 million contract that included $50.125 million guaranteed.

The Bears are getting a veteran to compete with Mitchell Trubisky.
