Cougars guard Malachi Flynn announces on Twitter that he's transferring from Washington State University, today.

Flynn averaged 15.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in his sophomore year at WSU.

He was also named the 2017 Wooden Legacy tournament MVP after leading the Cougs to the title. WSU beat San Diego State, a 2018 NCAA tournament team, for the title.

Wazzu was 6-0 and things were looking up. But they went 6-19 the rest of the way and finished in last place in the Pac-12.

This is the second defection for the Cougs in back-to-back days. On Monday, leading scorer Robert Franks announced he's turning pro. He hasn't hired an agent and could still return, but it's unlikely.

Head coach Ernie Kent now has two open scholarship spots for 2018-19.
