SEATTLE — For those battling addiction and their loved ones, choosing the right treatment is a crucial decision.
“There’s really two powerful forces that help somebody seek treatment,” said Carl Kester, CEO of Lakeside-Milam Recovery Centers. “The first is the individual themselves. If they’re feeling powerless or unmanageable or have patterns that are destructive, they need to find out if the disease is there.”
Kester says the other force is a loved one noticing legal, employment, and/or health concerns.

Lakeside-Milam provides care at both outpatient and inpatient facilities. Outpatient programs at nine locations throughout Northwest Washington are effective, convenient and discreet. The Lakeside-Milam team builds individualized treatment programs to help patients get back on track with minimal disruption to their daily lives.
Inpatient treatment includes the development of an individual treatment plan incorporating counseling, nutritional and physical therapy, as well as reading assignments, 12-step programs and stress management. Medical care for withdrawal management is also provided.
“When they go home, the support is there for them in early recovery and that can continue to help them process some of the things they’ve learned,” Kester said.
