Report: Amazon will pull products from third-party sellers that claim to treat coronavirus

The company told merchants who sell on Amazon.com that any products claiming to treat the mysterious virus will be removed.

SEATTLE — Amazon is removing products for sale in its marketplace that claim to treat or protect against coronavirus, according to an email obtained by CNBC.

  • The company told merchants who sell on Amazon.com that any products claiming to treat the mysterious virus will be removed. The news comes as coronavirus cases continue to grow and the international health community struggles to get its arms around the problem.

  • Amazon and other big tech companies met with World Health Organization officials at Facebook’s headquarters in California last week, CNBC reported. The meeting focused on stemming the spread of misinformation about coronavirus online.
