OLYMPIA, Wash. – Three Washington state Republican lawmakers are proposing a bill that would allow fans to bring guns into sports stadiums.
House Bill 1050 was introduced by Republican representatives Matt Shea, David Taylor and Bob McCaslin for the legislative session that begins in January 2017.
The bill would prevent private operators of public spaces, like stadiums and arenas, from keeping out anyone with a concealed pistol. It does require they have a concealed pistol license.
Currently, all Seattle stadiums, home of the Seahawks, Sounders and Mariners, are privately operated. Weapons are banned at any event at CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field, along with selfie sticks, noisemakers and other items.
