It’s estimated that Americans spent a staggering $69.51 billion on their pets last year, and 2018 looks to be record breaking.

Knowing what to spend your money on can be tricky, but keeping your pet safe and healthy is a top priority, so here’s some new pet tech that might save you time and money in the long run.

Petrics

Ninety percent of pet owners surveyed thought their pet was of normal weight but over 50 percent of pets in the U.S. are overweight and obese.

Managing diet and activities can be challenging, so perhaps some new pet bed technology can do the work for you.

Petrics is introducing a new smart pet bed, activity tracker, and health app all rolled up into one crash pad for your pooch.

The bed has a built-in scale and heating and cooling technology. The bed pairs with activity trackers and your smartphone.

Petrics goes beyond just recording the data and will make food and diet recommendations. The app will also offer reminders like vet appointments and can track and order medications.

Petrics is expected to be released this fall.

Tractive

Who let the dogs out? No, seriously. The dog days of losing your dog or cat may be a thing of the past.

Tractive is a simple clip-on GPS real-time tracking device that offers peace of mind and valuable location history. Tractive allows you to locate your pet anywhere at anytime. You can even set up a virtual fence and Tractive will notify your phone when a pet leaves the designated area.

It’s 100 percent waterproof and designed to fit most collars.

You can purchase the Tractive GPS tracker on their website.
