Have holiday toy clutter? Here are some organizations to donate to

If your floor runneth over with extra toys after the holidays, here's what viewers say are their favorite organizations to donate to.

Now that the dust of the Christmas craziness has settled, many of you have reached out to us saying your children were fortunate enough to receive more toys than needed - and want to find them a good home.

The 5 Hive is our Facebook community where viewers can share all sorts of advice, suggestions, and story ideas. This is where Kirsten asked for recommendations.

Here are some of the organizations fellow viewers suggested, along with links that lead to more information:

Luke suggested Tacoma's Toy Rescue Mission, which is run by Miss Martha. We highlighted Miss Martha in a story earlier in the season (click HERE) and she accepts donations year-round. Donate HERE(NOTE: They are taking a short break after the holidays and will resume accepting donations on January 15)

Christen and Jessica recommended Seattle Children's for donations of any new and unopened toys. Jessica says there are roughly 300 kids there at any given time, and these toys can bring smiles to their faces year-round. The hospital also uses donated toys to stock their playrooms.

Jennifer suggested Treehouse, a nonprofit organization serving foster children in Washington State.

Kari recommended looking into Mary's Place, which provides safe shelter and services for women, children, and families to help them out of homelessness.

Five Hiver Michele said the Salvation Army is one of her go-tos for donations.

There are many more. Red Tricycle has a great list: Click HERE.

And if you aren't already a member of our Five Hive, it's a closed Facebook group filled with people dedicated to helping each other in the community find solutions and sharing positivity. Click HERE to join.
