Storm cleanup continues in Port Angeles as hundreds are still without power

People in Clallam County are still cleaning up after Friday night's powerful windstorm.

Just over 400 customers in Clallam County remained without power Monday evening after Friday’s powerful windstorm downed trees and power lines.

Crews worked through the weekend and all day Monday clearing debris and propping up damaged power poles.

The county is assessing the damage, which is spread out over several miles, to see if it would be eligible for FEMA assistance.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office called the storm “one for our local record books.”

“While I knew it was going to be windy, no one could have expected what we experienced,” Undersheriff Ron Cameron wrote in a Facebook post.

There were a few bright spots amid the damage, Cameron wrote. No one was injured, and very little property crime was reported during the power outage.

According to the City of Port Angeles, all power has been restored within city limits, and a water emergency notification has been lifted.

Crews will continue clearing debris, and some roads may be temporarily closed as they work their way throughout the county.
