Seattle police return $70,000 in stolen merchandise to 29 downtown retailers

Seattle police returned items stolen in a retail theft ring.

SEATTLE — Seattle police have returned $70,000 worth of merchandise that had been stolen from 29 downtown stores since 2017.

In December 2017, investigators identified a 39-year-old man who was buying and reselling items stolen from downtown stores.

Detectives served a search warrant in March of 2018 at the suspect's home in Burien and he was taken into custody.

While executing the search warrant, police seized stolen items totaling over $70,000.

Many of the items still had their tags on them.

Seattle police also arrested four other individuals connected to the thefts. They’re continuing to work to dismantle large scale retail theft operations throughout the city.
