A security guard was critically injured Monday after a police chase ended with a car crashing into a gate at the Boeing plant in Renton.

Renton police say the incident began when an employee at Gene Coulon Beach Park was assaulted. When police arrived, the suspect took off in a car and hit the security guard near the Boeing gate at 6th and Logan.

After hitting the guard, the suspect continued to flee and hit a box truck on Boeing property before attempting to drive onto the Renton Airport, but was blocked by a gate.

Renton Police officers attempted to arrest the suspect at the gate, but broke free and started to run away. Police were able to capture the man shortly after with the help of some Boeing employees.

The suspect was transported to the hospital after being injured in the arrest.
