SEATTLE -- A Seattle City Light equipment failure at a substation in downtown Seattle caused a large power outage early Wednesday afternoon.

The outage was reported around 11:45 a.m. Crews were en route to the Massachusetts Street substation shortly after to make repairs.

Power was fully restored by 12:32 p.m.

Seattle police estimated the approximate outage area to be from Elliott Bay to I-5 and Virginia St. to Jackson St.

Outages were reported in downtown, Belltown and Pioneer Square. Seattle City Hall and King County Courthouse were also without power.

According to Seattle Fire Department calls, several people were stuck in elevators in downtown.

Police officers were deployed to assist with traffic control.
