Police pursuit ends in crash on I-5 near Seattle's Northgate Mall

A carjacking involving a yellow cab led to a police pursuit on I-5. The pursuit ended in a crash on southbound I-5 near Northgate.

A 38-year-old Renton man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly carjacking a yellow cab and leading police on a pursuit that ended in a crash on southbound I-5 near Northgate.

About 1:45 p.m., Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies responded to the North Lynnwood area for reports of a carjacking and shots fired in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree in the 13600 block of Mukilteo Speedway.

Deputies found the carjacking victim's car, a taxi cab, near I-5 and pursued the suspect. At one point the suspect began driving the wrong way on I-5, and deputies stopped pursuing him. They picked up the pursuit again, ending it near the entrance to the southbound HOV lanes on I-5 at Northgate.

No one was injured.
