Northern Lights could dance above Puget Sound overnight

Skywatchers could be in for a celestial treat this week.

A geomagnetic storm could produce the Northern Lights to the Pacific Northwest this week. The aurora watch is in effect on July 24 across Washington state.

NOAA Space Weather issued a minor geomagnetic storm watch due to 'the anticipated arrival of a recurrent coronal hole high-speed stream.' The National Weather Service of Seattle says solar winds have started picking up.

Skywatchers should look up, away from city light pollution, on Tuesday night. Although, NWS Seattle notes that moonlight could diminish viewing.
