It’s that time of the year again. Burn bans are in effect in several counties across central and Western Washington. Burn bans will last until October 1, 2018, unless officials decide to lift the restrictions sooner.
The Department of Natural Resources announced a ban on all outdoor burning in forests and state parks under DNR fire protection effective August 2. Prescribed burns, burn piles, and the use of charcoal briquettes are included in the ban.
The following list shows counties that have a burn ban in effect. If your county is NOT on the list, there was no burn ban in effect when this story was published.
Please check with local authorities before lighting any fire.
- No open burning.
- Exception for recreational fires, unless further banned by extreme weather conditions.
- All burning permits have been canceled. Recreational fires are also banned.
