Join a Seattle dad on his campaign to feed federal workers. Jeff Lew is known as the "School Lunch Debt Dad" after his mission to help students in need. Now he's turned his focus to help feed furloughed families.
After numerous requests, the Port of Seattle has set up a donation bin for federal workers who are not being paid during the partial government shutdown. Those interested can bring non-perishable food and gift cards to the donation area outside the Sea-Tac Conference Center at the south end of the airport's mezzanine level between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Cash and checks will not be accepted.
Roughly 2,000 federal workers at Sea-Tac Airport alone are either furloughed or working without pay during the shutdown. Some are turning to food stamps.
