Long summer days of repeating the same routine can get boring. While signing up your kids for summer camps can get expensive. So Take 5 intern Lily embarked on a journey to discover the best free summer fun in the Pacific Northwest in a new segment called "Lily's List."
For the first installment of Lily’s List, I visited Seattle's University Village for one of their Village Playdays. University Village and its merchants host these play days throughout the summer that are 100% free. Each event has a fun theme pertaining to the merchant's products and services.
The July 3 Village Playday was at Mrs. Cook’s, a cookware and baking specialty store. Kids got to make paper pies with their parents, friends, and siblings outside in the sun.
Mother of two Nikki Patel said, “It's sometimes tricky to find things that both a 6-year-old and 2-year-old can both go to that isn’t awkward for one of them.” Patel said the Village Playday was easy, relaxed and entertained both her kids. The list of upcoming University Playdays is below. Some merchants require an RSVP so make sure to call ahead before the event.
