Driver suspected of DUI after hitting Metro bus in Burien

A crash involving a Metro bus and a pickup truck blocked a major arterial in Burien Thursday evening. The truck driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

A pickup truck hit a Metro bus on S. 128th St. at SR 509 in Burien Thursday night. The roadway was closed for hours, according to Burien police

The driver of the pickup truck was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Several other people were also hurt in the crash, although police say those injuries appear to be minor. 

The driver of the pickup truck ran a red light and was speeding through the intersection, witnesses told the King County Sheriff's Office. The Metro bus had the right of way with a green light. 

Both the bus and pickup truck struck a power pole, damaging a power box and knocking out power in the immediate area. 

Commuters should avoid the area while S. 128th St. at SR 509 during the course of the investigation.
