KING 5 honored with 7 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

Recognition spans both television and digital journalism categories, including Overall Excellence

Seattle – KING 5 is the recipient of seven Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for 2018. Given out by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), the Murrow Awards recognize work that embodies the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.

“This incredible recognition is truly a team effort. The passion and dedication to journalism that exists day in and day out from everyone is amazing to witness. We are very proud of the entire team”, said Cheryl Carson, KING 5 Executive News Director.

KING 5 was awarded 2018 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in the following categories:

  • Overall Excellence - KING 5 News, “Serving our Community”
  • Continuing Coverage - Susannah Frame, Steve Douglas “Sick and Forgotten at Hanford”
  • Excellence in Video - Andy Wallace, “The Scott Legacy”
  • Hard News - John Sharify, Joseph Huerta “Tears”
  • Investigative Reporting - Chris Ingalls, Steve Douglas “Never Surrender”

  • Feature Reporting - Alex Rozier, Dan Renzetti “Joel”
