The City of Sammamish’s computer system has been targeted by a ransomware attack.
Interim City Manager Larry Patterson declared an emergency, which allows the city to bring in a security expert without having to go through the regular contracting procedures.
In a release, the city said its internal shared files have been affected.
The expert will help assess which systems were affected, the level of penetration, and what will be required to release the data, the release said.
The city has taken down “MyBuildingPermit” and map services from their website as a precaution.
