Coronavirus testing for first responders, medical workers available at Tacoma Dome

The participants are first screened online with a survey to make sure they qualified and have symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath.

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma-Pierce County Health rolled out drive-thru style coronavirus testing for first responders, medical professionals, and other critical service workers on Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

The participants were first screened online with a survey to make sure they qualified and were experiencing symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath.

“Our community’s health and safety is our top priority,” said Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards in a press release. “We are taking every measure possible to support additional testing for our community while ensuring safety for the community and staff. Ensuring that our first responders and those on the frontlines of service delivery to our community have access to COVID-19 testing is paramount to achieving our top priority.”

People considered in the high-risk category; age 60 and above, pregnant or with underlying health conditions were also included for testing eligibility.

Federal Emergency Management has provided Washington state with 8,000 tests, some of which were available for the event.

Space is limited and those who think they qualify must take an online survey to qualify for testing. Access the survey here.

The drive-thru testing will be available until Wednesday, but again space is limited and you must first take the online survey.
