'Avengers Infinity War' star Josh Brolin says he was cast as Thanos because he looks constipated

In this spoiler-free interview, the veteran actor talks about nothing of consequence with reporter Kim Holcomb.
Josh Brolin talks to entertainment reporter Kim Holcomb about playing Thanos in Avengers Infinity War.

How did Josh Brolin get cast as the most evil warlord in the Marvel universe?

He told Kim Holcomb it’s all thanks to his forehead.

Here’s their spoiler-free interview.

BROLIN: "That's why they hired me for this.”

HOLCOMB: “Because of your furrowed brow? That was all that it was?”

BROLIN: “Literally. You think, ‘I'm gonna come in and do the voice,’ that's kind of what I thought. I didn't realize it's as involved as it is. I was like, ‘Well what do they want?’ Well it's the bad guy who gonna half the universe - let's get Josh! He looks angry. He looks constipated."

HOLCOMB: "I want to know how bad Thanos actually is. We know he's the worst guy in the universe, but...”

BROLIN: “I'll tell you anything you want to know. There's all the spoilers that they say don't get into. I'll tell you everything.”

HOLCOMB: “Does he take the last piece of pizza without asking anybody else if they would like the last piece of pizza?”

BROLIN: “Yeah, he's rude like that. He's rude, he's selfish, he's self-involved, in his own bubble. He will always eat the first and last piece of pizza.”

HOLCOMB: “Will he be the last person to last-minute merge and cut off an entire line of traffic, irrespective of anyone else who needs to get through?”

BROLIN: “Without an indicator.”

HOLCOMB: “Without an indicator, even? All right."

BROLIN: "I love it because we have nothing to talk about.”

HOLCOMB: “Nothing to talk about!”

BROLIN: “You literally, we can't talk about the movie, we can't talk about the character. They went all over the world and did a thing but they never showed the movie so there was nothing really to do except say, 'I'm Mark Ruffalo. Yay!' (laughter)"

HOLCOMB: "Do you want to talk about The Goonies? We talk about The Goonies every time I see you because it is still - it never ends.”

BROLIN: “You know, there was a point in my life… there was a moment - well, 'a moment,' there was 20 years, where that name would come up and I'd be like, 'I don't want to hear that name anymore, I just don't want to hear that name,' because it was such a thing and there were no other things. And now that I have other things that I actually enjoy, I actually enjoy talking about The Goonies, so anything you want to talk about regarding The Goonies, I am right here."

HOLCOMB: "I think it's cool that for me, Goonies was a thing for me in my childhood, and now this is a thing for my son in his childhood and I think that's really cool.”

BROLIN: “It is cool. Now it's getting to the point where kids of kids - to see three generations be around long enough to see - it's pretty cool.”

HOLCOMB: “Congratulations. It was really good to see you and talk about absolutely nothing.”

BROLIN: “Nothing!"

Avengers Infinity War is rated PG-13 and opens April 27.
