AUBURN, Wash. — The body of a man who was reported missing earlier this week was found in the trunk of his car Thursday night.

Auburn police confirmed the man's identity Friday.

Around 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Auburn police received a report of suspicious vehicle parked at the Lakeland Hills Community Center. When police arrived on scene, they found the vehicle’s trunk ajar and discovered carpeting and a body inside.

According to Auburn Police Commander Mike Hirman, the vehicle is registered to 27-year-old Hector Galeano Jr.

Family members reported Galeano Jr. missing Wednesday saying they had not heard from him in several days.

He was last seen at a friend's house Monday about 4:30 a.m. Galeano left the friend's house, and video shows his car was driven to the community center parking lot about noon. Police believe someone drove the car with Galeano Jr.'s body in it to the community center and left it.

It is unknown how Galeano Jr. died, but police are investigating the death as a possible homicide.

At least 15 detectives are working on the case.

If anyone has information about Galeano Jr.'s death, they should call Auburn police at (253) 288-7403.
