A convicted felon escaped custody during his pre-trial hearing in Mason County Tuesday morning.
38-year-old Donald F. Hartwell Jr. escaped around 11:15 a.m. while he was attending his pre-trial hearing at Mason County Superior Court.
The Mason County Sheriff's Office said new procedures require pre-trial prisoners in Washington state to be un-restrained in court.
Sheriff officials did not say exactly how Hartwell Jr. escaped. They also did not provide information about what charges he is facing.
He is described as 5'8'' and about 190 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.
