Two men were found dead from gunshot wounds in a car Monday morning in University Place. Deputies are asking residents in the area to check their security cameras to see if they captured anyone in the area.

The bodies were discovered around 5:30 a.m. in a residential neighborhood a few blocks east of Kobayashi Park.

A Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said the bodies were discovered after a neighbor called police thinking the two people in the Dodge sedan may have passed out. The car was parked in the street at a 45-degree angle, according to the spokesman.

Deputies say they received no calls for shots being fired.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's department says it's not initially believed that either of the victims is the shooter. Bullet casings were found both inside and outside the car.

No suspect description has been released.

Detectives are looking for information on any person or vehicle who seemed suspicious leaving the area, especially if it was two men running north of the scene near Alameda Avenue, 56th Street, and Cirque Drive W. The sheriff's department is asking residents in these areas to check their security camera footage between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday.
