Sixty-five percent of Pacific Northwest residents are not planning to shop on Black Friday this year.

That's according to a new survey from WSU's Carson College of Business.

The survey questioned 1,000 possible customers, looking for perceptions about the holiday shopping season and where customers would shop.

Researchers also hoped to look at the impact e-commerce was having on shopping habits during the holiday season.

Only 36 percent of those surveyed reported they are even somewhat likely to shop in-store on Black Friday this year, and nearly half (43 percent) indicated they were very unlikely to shop at all.

The main reasons those surveyed said they wouldn't be shopping on Black Friday were crowds and extended deals before or after the day.

While most consumers aspire to shop at local brick-and-mortar stores, the survey also found that many will likely shop online.
