The Seattle City Council just approved Mandatory Affordable Housing

How will that change the city in years to come?

SEATTLE — The Seattle City Council voted to adopt a Mandatory Affordable Housing program which will change the way developers build residential areas in 27 neighborhoods. The program alters zoning guidelines to allow increased density and taller buildings, which would benefit real estate developers. In turn, developers must build affordable housing into their complexes, or pay into an affordable housing fund which the city will then use to build affordable housing.

Journalist Erica Barnett from The C is for Crank blog joins New Day Northwest to talk about the vote and the possible changes that could come to Seattle neighborhoods in the near future.
