Pups compete for best waddle and howl at Celebrate Woodinville Festival's Basset Bash

For the past four decades, the city of Woodinville has held an annual summer celebration that features an event devoted to basset hounds.

SEATTLE — If you're looking for live music, food, fun, and basset hounds, you may want to head to Woodinville in August.

The Celebrate Woodinville Festival, which takes place on August 18, has been a community summertime staple for the last 40 years. In addition to the parade, art show, live concert series, food, and wine and beer garden, the festival has also been home to their Basset Bash since 1984. The long-eared pups join the parade every year, many dressed up for the occasion, for prizes and the public's affection.

To kick off the day, Woodinville's Fire Station 31 will host a pancake breakfast from 8:00AM-10:30AM, followed by the 40th annual parade beginning at 11AM. The festivities will continue at Wilmot Gateway Park from 12:00PM-5PM. Those wishing to join the Basset Hound spectators can wander down to DeYoung Park from 1:00PM-4PM.

Elaine Cook, Deputy Mayor of Woodinville, has brought along some Basset pals to share more about the Celebrate Woodinville Festival.
