Matcha treats have some sweet benefits

The green powder made from Japanese green tea leaves is getting a lot of attention these days for its helpful properties, like powerful antioxidants.

SEATTLE — You don't have to sip a mug of tea to enjoy the boost of energy, stress reduction, and other health benefits matcha offers - instead, you can enjoy a delicious dessert that is both fun to look at and eat.

Matcha, a green powder made with finely ground Japanese green tea leaves, is becoming a popular ingredient in a multitude of dessert dishes, like ice cream, cookies, and even tiramisu - a treat offered by Nana's Green Tea Seattle in Belltown.

Jessmin Lau, owner of Nana's, demonstrates one of her delicious matcha dishes.
