Learn how kidney transplants save lives during National Kidney Month

Two of the Blankenship's three children underwent life-saving kidney transplants.

SEATTLE — March is National Kidney Month, a time to raise awareness about kidney health, and transplants. For the Blakenship family, March is an especially important time. Not one, but two of their three daughters required a kidney transplant, and what was an already difficult time for the family would have been much worse if it wasn't for the life-saving work of COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Association).

The Blankenship family reached out to COTA when they had trouble paying their medical expenses. COTA rallied their friends and family to help with fundraising efforts so the family could afford to pay their medical expenses while they focused on taking care of their daughters. Jennifer, Allison and Katie Blankenship join New Day Northwest to talk about the importance of kidney transplants and how COTA helped them through a difficult time in their lives.
