It's Wave Season! Check out some of the best offers of the year on cruise vacations.

By the end of March, cruise lines want to be 80% sold for the year. Now is the time to get the best deals on your dream vacation. This segment is sponsored by AAA Travel.

SEATTLE — During Wave Season, customers can get great deals on cruises, if they know how.

AAA Travel's Lisa Anciaux joins New Day Northwest to talk about how to best take advantage of Wave Season.

"This is the time of the year that all the cruise lines come out with some of their best offers for the year," said Anciaux. "By the end of March, they want to be at 80 percent sold for the year. So it's a real big push for all of these extra perks, extra amenities that you can get when you book your cruise during January and February."

Anciaux stressed that people considering taking cruises in 2019 or even 2020 should take advantage of early booking to secure a discounted price on their vacation.

Anciaux advised utilizing a travel professional and attending a cruise show as the best way to determine what kind of cruise is the best fit for any individual.

"It's important to realize if you are a first-time cruiser, there are so many different cruise lines, so many different cruise ships...and they each have a different personality," explained Anciaux, "And depending on what you like to do on vacation, [that] will determine what cruise ship and itinerary is best for you."

A travel professional's guidance makes it easier for potential cruise-goers to decide which vacation to book.

"It can be daunting," said Anciaux. "You can look on the internet, you see all the commercials ... I was looking online this morning, and I was looking at just one cruise vendor. There were 22 different promotions going on right now for a certain date. How do you know which is the right one for you? Using that travel professional is what you want to do, to help you navigate what is the best offer for you because there is a cruise for everyone and every pocketbook."

AAA will be hosting five complimentary cruise shows in Washington in the upcoming months. The shows offer attendees an opportunity to look at the presentations of different cruise vendors, collect brochures, and talk one-on-one with representatives and cruise experts.

"I'll be there talking Cruising 101 like I do every year," said Anciaux.
