Before you grab that ice cream cone or grill up those hot dogs, you may want to consider the consequences you may encounter from eating popular summer foods. Dr. Felicia Stoler, Nuritionist and author of Living Skinny in Fat Genes, shares why ice cream, cheese and wine, citrus fruits, and hot dogs can spoil your summer and a delicious option you can swap in instead, fish tacos.
Dr. Stoler talked about DAO (diamine oxidase) deficiency brought on by an intolerance to histamines. Histamines are present in a variety of fermented foods such as wine, aged cheeses, beer and sauerkraut; and red wine has 20–200 percent more histamine than white wine. YOu can find more information on DAO here.
