Former Mariners pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith breaks down the recent Mariners trades

Ryan talks about why Robinson Cano and other key players were traded away, which incoming players seem most promising, and why these moves are actually good for the Mariners.

Several of the Mariners' recent trades have heads spinning. Stars including second baseman Robinson Cano, shortstop Jean Segura, and pitchers James Paxton and Edwin Diaz are gone, and that's not all. Former M's pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith now works as an analyst for Root Sports Northwest and 710 ESPN. He broke down the trades and explained why these moves are actually good for the Mariners' organization. He also spotlighted two of the incoming players (outfielder Jarred Kelenic from the Mets and pitcher Justus Sheffield from the Yankees) as exciting up-and-comers.

The Mariners open Spring Training action on February 21, 2019, against the Oakland A's. Their home opener is March 28, 2019, against the Boston Red Sox. Visit www.Mariners.com for more information.
