Federal Way City Council's newest and youngest member

28-year-old Jesse Johnson is working to bring positive changes to Federal Way and encouraging the city's younger generation's interest in civic engagement.

SEATTLE — In December of 2017, Jesse Johnson was sworn in as Federal Way City Council's youngest member, and its only African American male. Since then, City Council meetings have seen an uptick in attendance by teenagers and young adults, encouraged to share their views.

Jesse shared how he's using his background in education (He holds a Masters Degree from University of Washington and currently works at Highline Public Schools) and experience in civic engagement to help affect change in his hometown.
